This kit includes everything you need to create your very own electricity-free, gravity-fed system. Blumat systems can adjust to any plant type or desired moisture level. Slow Watering The water is released slowly and in doses. Consequently, plants always receive tempered water and healthy and lush growth is the result. Gravity System This specific kit comes with 5" carrots, which are better for smaller potted plants (10 gallons at most). If you have large plants (10+ gallon pots), we recommend using 9" carrots, or Maxis, to get water deep into the soil. A valve within the Blumat reacts by sub pressure. This sub pressure, the so-called suction tension, develops in dry soil. The dry soil conducts a suction which develops tension within the Tropf-Blumat.2. Then a valve is pulled downwards, allowing the passage of water ...3. and the slow drip of water begins.4. Likewise, in reverse, when the soil has reached its peak moisture, to the level of moisture at which the Blumat cone was installed in5. The sub pressure in the sensor causes the water to be sucked back into the cone, and the valve within the Blumat returns to its original position, then squeezes the drip tube closed with a rod, and the passage of water is stopped.6. This allows for the slow delivery of water at the plant’s preferred rate, allowing each plant to determine its own irrigation schedule.
